What kind of paint do you use?
CARS R US uses Dupont urethane paints. Most vehicles manufactured in the 80’s through the present are finished with urethane paints. Urethane paints replaced enamels and laquers of the 70’s since they are longer lasting and retain their color without fading. CARS R US will use paint lines such as House of Kolor upon request.
How will you match my car's paint color?
Once we have the paint code, we can look up the formula for the color in Dupont’s system. Then we have the color mixed, spray a test panel and compare the panel to your car for accuracy.
I have a clear coat on my car. Will you replace it?
Most late model vehicles have a finish called base coat or clear coat which is a urethane paint applied in two successive stages. Base coat, the first stage, consists of three to four coats of the actual color. The second stage is applied in two to three layers over the base coat and consists of clear urethane for added depth, gloss and ultraviolet protection.
If you have a “single stage” colored car, this means the clear urethane has been integrated directly into the color. A tri-coat has an additional layer of pearl color in between the base and the clear coat.
Sometimes, dealers call an added layer of wax a “clear coat,” and it may be something you purchased with your vehicle. If this is your situation, you must wait at least 60 days before reapplying the “clear coat” product. CARS R US can make provisions to reapply the wax after 60 days.
How do I keep my car from rusting?
Washing your car is the best thing you can do to extend the life of your body’s vehicle. You can make sure to regularly clean the wheel wells and underneath the car. If you apply a basic coat of wax, it will make it easier to clean. Remember, you don’t need fancy waxes and aftermarket undercoatings when you take care of your vehicle by keeping it clean.
Rust is an unavoidable problem in Nebraska. Hand washing your car is a good way to keep an eye on it so you can remove any rust before it becomes damaging.
How soon can I wash my car after it has been painted?
You can wash your car right away with soap and water. However, you need to wait 60 days to wax your car after it has been painted.
If I want to have my car repainted, do you have to remove the old paint?
It depends on the reason your car needs new paint. If your original paint is delaminating, severely oxidized, spider-cracking or was an incompatible enamel or lacquer, it will have to be completely stripped and primed before we are able to paint it.
However, if your original paint surface is solid, it may just need to be sanded for adhesion before repainting.
My Ford truck is white, but I saw this new Jaguar Racing Green. Can I get my new truck painted that color?
Certainly! You can change your vehicle’s color to anything you want. It is important to know the color changes can come close to doubling the cost of a routine paint job. If you are making a drastic color change, you will need to have the backsides of the doors, hood, trunk, engine compartment and door jambs painted. This requires more disassembly than a same-color paint job. Trucks can also have the added expense of changing the inside of the bed color as well. If you are looking to reduce the cost, permanent bed liners can be a low-cost option for inside boxes.
What is paintless dent repair? What is it a good option?
Paintless dent repair, PDR, essentially pops dents out without disrupting your car’s paint. It can be a very effective way to remove minor dents from your vehicle’s metal surfaces with the use of special tools. Paintless dent repair can be the right choice for cars with an individual dent with unbroken paint and for many hail damaged vehicles.
Paintless dent repair work does not work for vehicles that have been previously painted, cars with dents where the paint has been destroyed, or cars with dents that are larger than a quarter or a large quantity of dents in a concentrated area. CARS R US will assist you in getting professional and high quality PDR repairs.
I was in an accident, and I'm wondering if my car is safe to drive now. Can you help me determine if it is safe?
With frame machines and precise measuring systems, we are able to confidently return your damaged vehicle back to factory specifications. If your vehicle has had frame damage, it could affect the drivability of the car. We will perform a wheel alignment on your car if there is frame damage.
Wheel alignments cannot be completed successfully if the frame is not positioned perfectly or if there is a damaged suspension component. Your car will be safe to drive after a successful wheel alignment. Bad tires and worn suspension parts that are not accident related can also cause problems with wheel alignments. Remember, your insurance company is not responsible for replacing worn out parts, but you may need to replace the parts in order to finish the repairs safely.
I was in an accident, and my air bag didn't deploy. Is it defective?
Air bag systems are self-diagnosing, and you will have a warning light alert you if your system is compromised.
The technology for air bags is precise. Air bags are designed to deploy in specific situations. Front air bags will not deploy in rear end or side impact collisions. Impact must be exactly straight forward and low enough in front to impact the frame rails at a certain level of speed. It is important to remember your seat belt is your most important safety restraint.
Speaking of air bags, they are expensive, and I am trying to put my car back together as inexpensively as possible. Can you leave air bags out of the repair?
No, we are not able to accommodate your request. We want you to be safe!
